Espanola, New Mexico ? Haskell Indian Nations University’s women’s basketball team opened its season with a victory on Friday at the Santa Claran Classic. Haskell defeated University of the Southwest (Hobbs, N.M), 76-60.

Nataska Rouse led Haskell with 13 points.

Autumn Burtt added 12, and Lois Stevens and Sherelle Begay each added 11.

Haskell shot 51 percent from the field and 41 percent from three-point range.

The Indians also forced 21 turnovers.
