Saturday afternoon parade planned as part of KU Homecoming celebration

As Kansas University’s Homecoming Week counts down to this Saturday’s 6 p.m. football kickoff against Texas A&M, the KU Alumni Association is sponsoring a number of different activities for students and the public.

The annual Homecoming Parade will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday along Jayhawk Boulevard, and a pancake feed is scheduled at the same time on the Watson Library lawn.

Other major events scheduled for the remainder of the week include:

• 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday, Adams Alumni Center, Homecoming Food Fest and Jayhawk Jingles — five local food vendors provide free food as KU students perform songs and dances.

• 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Wescoe Beach, Crimson and Blue Day. KU football coach Turner Gill signs autographs at noon, while free food and raffles are ongoing throughout the event.

• 2 p.m. Sunday, Kansas Union, Jayhawk Jog 5K Walk/Run. Proceeds benefit the United Way, and sign-up is available at the event or in advance.
