Ben McLemore, a 6-foot-5 senior guard from Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va., who made an official visit to Kansas University last weekend, has set up a visit to rival Missouri.

St. Louis native McLemore will travel to Columbia, Mo., the weekend of Oct. 30, McLemore’s AAU coach, Darius Cobb, told Rivals.com on Tuesday night.

McLemore had originally said he’d be visiting Tennessee this weekend, but that trip is off, and the Vols, in fact, may have been eliminated. The country’s No. 17-rated player is apparently down to KU and MU. He is expected to take the ACT test this Saturday in Virginia.

Nash decision coming Thursday: LeBryan Nash, a 6-7 senior forward from Dallas Lincoln High, will orally commit to either KU, Oklahoma State or Baylor on Thursday on ESPNU. The announcement is expected to come on ESPNU’s Recruiting Insider show, which, according to ESPN’s TV listings, starts at 4 p.m. Central time on Thursday. Nash’s half-brother, Byron Eaton, attended OSU. Nash visited KU for Late Night in the Phog.

Morris honored again: KU junior forward Marcus Morris has been named second-team preseason All-America by CBSsports.com.

The website’s Gary Parrish named North Carolina freshman forward Harrison Barnes preseason national player of the year.

“I’ve seen Barnes enough over the past two years to know greatness is coming — just like I knew greatness was coming with Kevin Durant back in 2006-07, with Derrick Rose back in 2007-08, and with John Wall last season,” Parrish wrote of the former Ames (Iowa) High standout. “Barnes is the total package. He has a work ethic to match his skill set, plus just about every intangible imaginable.”

Barnes was joined on the first team by Jacob Pullen, Kansas State; Nolan Smith and Kyle Singler, Duke; and Jared Sullinger, Ohio State. Sullinger also is a freshman.

Rankings: KU’s team is ranked fourth nationally by Sporting News and Athlon, seventh by Blue Ribbon Yearbook and ESPN.com (Andy Katz), 10th by Slam Magazine, 11th by Foxsports.com, 17th by Lindy’s and 25th by ESPN’s Dick Vitale.

Jackson still with Kings: Former KU forward Darnell Jackson’s chances of surviving final cuts of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings received a boost this preseason when frontcourt players Samuel Dalembert and Hassan Whiteside went down with injuries.

“You’ve got to keep showing up, and good things can happen,” Kings coach Paul Westphal told the Sacramento Bee. “You never know when your break is going to come, and you can’t figure it out in advance. But if you’re not ready, you’ll never take advantage of it anyway. That’s all you can do.”

The Bee says Jackson has “earned praise for his smarts and hustle. He is a physical player on defense who also can make an open mid-range jumper.”

”’Yes sir, No sir, Whatever you want, coach,’ — that’s him,” Westphal told the paper. “A hardworking guy. Tough. He’s done really, really well.”

No telling yet if that’s good enough to make the team.

Wright not in plans?: The Toronto Star doesn’t like former Kansas forward Julian Wright’s chances of cracking the rotation. Toronto acquired Wright from New Orleans in an offseason trade.

“Little or no impact through the first half of pre-season and too much talent ahead of him for him to play much, if at all,” writes Star reporter Doug Smith.
