• The Kansas Pharmacists Association’s 130th Anniversary Annual Meeting and Tradeshow was held at the Lawrence Holidome. Earning awards on Sept. 24 were Nicole Kehr and Pat Hubbell, both pharmacists, and Ken Audus, dean of Kansas University’s School of Pharmacy. All are Lawrence residents.

Kehr received the Kansas Pharmacists Association President’s Award. Hubbell earned the Kansas Pharmacists Association Board Member of the Year Award. Audus received the Kansas Pharmacists Association Board of Trustees Award.

• Leo Fair, 5, and his sister Elsa Fair, 7, both of Lawrence and members of KU Credit Union’s Johnny Appleseed Junior Ecology Club, have been named local winners of KU Credit Union’s Johnny Appleseed Club coloring contest. They received Spark Talking Microscopes from the credit union. For this year’s contest, club members drew pictures depicting ways to save or protect our planet’s valuable resources. Their drawings, along with all the others by local children, have been forwarded to the national Johnny Appleseed Club to be judged in the national contest.

• Courtney Quirarte, from Salon Pearl of Lawrence, supported Guido, Redken’s creative consultant, and styled hair at Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out Fashion Show Sept. 7 in New York City’s Lincoln Center. Quirarte was among 100 stylists working backstage with Guido.
