Mosque argument leads to walk-off

New York — Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg walked off the stage of “The View” Thursday during an argument with Bill O’Reilly over the proposed Islamic center near the site of the Sept. 11 attacks.

The women objected to the Fox News Channel host saying that “Muslims killed us on 9/11.” They returned after an O’Reilly apology.

The fireworks came amid a heated argument on the issue.

“Listen to me,” O’Reilly said, “because you’ll learn something.”

“Pinhead!” retorted Behar, who also hosts a prime-time show on HLN.

O’Reilly, who was on the popular daytime talk show to promote his book “Pinheads and Patriots: Where You Stand in the Age of Obama,” said locating the Islamic Center near ground zero is inappropriate “because Muslims killed us on 9/11.”

Goldberg responded with an expletive and Behar rose from her seat.

“I don’t want to sit here,” Behar said. “I don’t. I’m outraged by that statement.”

She walked off the set, followed by Goldberg.

The show’s creator, Barbara Walters, immediately said her colleagues were wrong to walk off.

Even Bieber mocking Tom Brady’s hair

New York — Even Justin Bieber is making fun of Tom Brady’s hair.

The New England Patriots quarterback’s long locks have been mocked for resembling that of the teen pop sensation — and now Bieber himself is piling on.

In a video posted by Bieber late Wednesday, he raps: “Sacked like a sacker. Call up Mr. Brady. Tell him to leave his hair to the guy who sings ‘Baby.'”

Jazz legend Brubeck has pacemaker surgery

Hartford, Conn. — A spokesman for Dave Brubeck says the jazz pianist is doing well after surgery at a Connecticut hospital to install a pacemaker.

Patrick Giblin, spokesman at Brubeck’s alma mater, University of the Pacific in California, says Brubeck’s doctors expect him to be ready to resume concert touring in November.

Giblin said Brubeck is eager to return to the piano. The jazz legend had the surgery at Bridgeport Hospital on Monday after experiencing fatigue and dizziness at his home in Wilton, Conn.

Brubeck, who turns 90 in December, got an early birthday celebration in August when performing with the Wynton Marsalis Quintet at the Newport Jazz Festival in Rhode Island.
