A couple of Jayhawks who have missed much of the past three games could return Thursday against Kansas State.

Gill said last week that freshman safety Keeston Terry — out since the second half of the Southern Miss loss due to a leg injury — and junior tight end A.J. Steward — out since the Georgia Tech victory because of a shoulder injury — could be back in time for this week’s game.

“There’s potential,” Gill said. “Probably on Sunday I’ll have a definite good idea at that time. I think it’s a definite possibility that Keeston Terry could be back and maybe A.J. Steward. Those are probably the two guys that have been missing that may have a chance to come back.”

Former RB shuns Kansas

Moran Norris, a starting fullback for the San Francisco 49ers, had a chance Sunday night to give KU a little national attention, but chose, instead, to give the love to his high school.

During the popular introductions for Sunday Night Football on NBC, in which the starters introduce themselves by listing off their names and the school they attended, Norris elected to drop the name of his high school — Madison High in Houston — instead of mentioning Kansas.

When NBC started doing this back on Monday Night Football, nearly all of the intros included colleges. However, in recent years many players have branched out to give a nod to their high schools, elementary schools and even their little league football teams.

Norris, a 10-year NFL veteran, played at KU from 1997-2000. He finished his college career with 339 yards of total offense, including a pair of 100-yard games (vs. Missouri and Oklahoma State) in 1999.
