Jim Carr Memorial Fund to help Douglas County families with cost of adoptions

The Jim Carr Memorial Fund for Adoption is accepting applications from Douglas County families looking for help with the costs of adopting a child.

The award will cover $1,000 of verifiable adoption costs including the agency fee, country fee and orphanage donation.

Applicants must live in Douglas County and submit a home form compiled by a specially licensed social worker with their application. Both domestic and international adoptions will be considered, as well as private adoptions.

The deadline is Nov. 1. For more information or application materials, visit www.dccfoundation.org or contact Marilyn Hull, 843-8727.

The fund was established in 2002 in memory of Jim Carr, a Lawrence firefighter and father of two adopted daughters.
