Free State senior earns recognition

Daniel Gonzalez, a senior at Free State High School, is among nearly 5,000 students nationwide to be honored by the College Board through its National Hispanic Recognition Program.

The program recognizes Hispanic/Latino students who took the PSAT as juniors and maintained grade-point averages of at least 3.0 by the end of their junior years.

The recognition carries no financial reward, but a list of winners is provided to subscribing colleges and universities “particularly interested in academically outstanding seniors of Hispanic/Latino heritage,” the College Board says.

Gonzalez, whose two sisters also received recognition through the program, intends to study engineering at Kansas University.
