Members of Troop 53 made a trip to the Niangua River in Missouri Sept. 10-12. The troop spent an afternoon canoeing and rafting down the river followed by a steak dinner cooked by the leaders. On Sunday, they visited the fish hatchery at Bennett Springs State Park. Scouts attending were Anthony Van Schmus, Sean Morris, Brian Morris, John McCain, Connor Chestnut, Alex Clabaugh, Trenton Shambaugh, Jordan Cuttell, Ivan Davidson, Matthew Siler, Tyler MacMurray, Connor Ballenger, Matt Mitchell, Andrei Elliot, Kody Gray, Connor Harman, Elliot Klopp, Jake Landgrebe, Andrew Ornburn, Patrick Liston and Ryan Liston. Leaders were Jay Morris, Brian Van Schmus, Curtis Lesslie, John Mitchell and Scoutmaster Mitch Yulich.

Eudora Cub Scout Pack 3064 and Boy Scout Troop 64 participated in the Heart of America Council’s celebration of the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouting in America, held Sept. 24-26 near Bonner Springs. More than 12,000 Scouts and Scouters gathered at a campsite adjacent to Camp Naish, one of HOAC’s campsites, to enjoy camping events and a stage show with music, magic and fireworks.

Cub Pack 3064, sponsored by the Eudora United Methodist Church, was represented by Tiger Cubs Ender Isenburg, Caleb Lord and Garrett Shoemaker, with fathers Carl Isenburg, Jim Lord and Kelly Shoemaker, escorting them to spend the day Saturday. Wolf Cubs Nathaniel Criqui and Logan Labelle, accompanied by Jerry Criqui, Donna Labelle, John Scott and Karen Lewis, camped overnight on Saturday.

Boy Scout Troop 64, led by Scoutmaster Glenn Jackson and senior patrol leader Connor Bradley, sent Scouts Nathan Bradley, Simon Elwell, Dakota Coble, Patrick Bradley, Dylan Hopson, Nathan Gentleman, Andrew Rome, Andrew Briery, Alex Whitten and Steven Wimmer to walk the 200 acres of activities. They were joined by Scouters Ann Wimmer, Damon Bradley, Jerry Criqui, Rodney Coble, Christen Coble, Kurt Hopson, James Briery and Duane Gentleman. Roy Wimmer joined them on Saturday.

Troop 64, chartered to the Eudora Lions Club, meets on Monday evening at the West Community Center on Winchester Road.
