Midge Grinstead reinstated as executive director of the Lawrence Humane Society

Midge Grinstead has been reinstated as executive director of the Lawrence Humane Society.

The Humane Society’s board of directors had placed Grinstead on administrative leave for unspecified personnel reasons. The period of leave lasted 28 days.

At a board meeting earlier this month in front of a throng of Grinstead’s supporters, board members said they had offered her a proposal to return, but did not offer details.

Grinstead said she had no additional constraints on her employment as part of her reinstatement, but added that the board did pass a resolution outlining new procedures relating to how to deal with employees.

Tuesday was Grinstead’s first day back in the office.
