Lawrence woman injured in car-deer accident west of town on U.S. Highway 40

A 25-year-old Lawrence woman was treated and released at Lawrence Memorial Hospital Monday morning after her car struck a deer six miles west of Lawrence on U.S. Highway 40.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Nicole M. Hoffhines was driving west in a 2002 Hyundai Sonata about 7 a.m. when she struck a deer that was trying to cross the highway.

Hoffhines was wearing her seat belt, according to the highway patrol report.
