Community bringing ‘Annie’ to Theatre Lawrence

America’s favorite orphan is coming to the Theatre Lawrence stage in one of the best-loved musicals of all time, featuring award-winning songs like “You’re Never Fully Dressed without a Smile,” “Easy Street,” “Hard Knock Life,” and “Tomorrow.”

Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3-4, Dec. 9-10 and Dec. 16-18, and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 4-5, Dec. 11-12 and Dec. 18-19 at Theatre Lawrence, formerly Lawrence Community Theatre, 1501 N.H.

Special events include:

Dec. 3: “Annie First Nighters’ Reception: Come early (6:30 p.m.) opening night of “Annnie” and enjoy hors d’oeuvres catered by WheatFields Bakery, meet the exhibiting artist and listen to director Charles Goolsby talk about the show.

Dec. 4: Meet orphan dogs from the Humane Society: The Lawrence Humane Society will be on-hand at Theatere Lawrence to introduce several fine dogs needing new homes, 1 p.m.

Dec. 9: Pre-show reception sponsored by First State Bank & Trust, 6:30 p.m.

Dec. 11: Backstage with “Annie” Girl Scout workshop, 10 a.m.-noon.
