• Beauty Brands Salon, Spa, Superstore, 3514 Clinton Parkway, completed the “It Takes Guts” campaign Nov. 7 and raised more than $1,900 to support The Willow Domestic Violence Center, a nonprofit dedicated to ending domestic violence in Douglas, Franklin and southern Jefferson counties. The fundraiser was part of Beauty Brands’ annual nationwide END ABUSE program.

• Douglas County Bank announces efforts to gather financial donations for the Ballard Community Center Food Pantry with a “food sculpture” contest. During October, branches accepted nonperishable food donations. The donations have been used to create “sculptures” designed by several departments. During November, the public is invited to vote for its favorite design with a financial donation. The nonperishable food and all of the money will then be presented to Ballard Community Center Food Pantry. Food sculptures are at 300 W. Ninth St. and 4340 W. Sixth St. All branches will continue to accept nonperishable food through November.
