Wichita man pleads guilty to collecting 3 million child porn pictures

? Prosecutors say a Wichita man admitted in federal court that he had collected more than 3 million child pornography images.

U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom says 74-year-old Donald W. Schmidt pleaded guilty Monday to one count of distributing child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography.

In his plea, Schmidt admitted that he traded child pornography over the Internet.

Grissom says in a news release that when Wichita police searched Schmidt’s home in March, they found two computers hooked to separate Internet service providers and 11 boxes containing CDs and DVDs. He says forensic analysis found more than 3 million images of child porn on the computers, external drives and disks.

Sentencing is set for Jan. 31.
