4-H and FCE news

The Stull Busy Beavers 4-H club met Sept. 13 at the Stull United Methodist Church Faith and Friendship Center. The club held election of officers. New officers are: Wyatt Schumann, president; Kelsey Wulfkuhle, vice president; Kyle Johnston, treasurer; Taylor Springer, secretary; Madison Wulfkuhle and Dylan Schumann, reporters; Scott Johnston and Baylee Wulfkuhle, historians; Jessye Schumann and Alexis Clark, parliamentarians; Lexia Jamison, junior president; Coy Leming, junior vice president; Daisy Johnson, junior secretary; Elizabeth Donaldson, junior treasurer; Cassody O’Conner, Kassidy Schumann and Keeran Jones, song leaders; Brandon Johnston, Rebecca Donaldson, Tristan Damme and Lia Jones, recreation leaders; and Alexis Clark, Lauren Jamison and Brionna Childers, county council representatives.

The club’s achievement celebration and October meeting was held Oct. 11 at the Stull UMC Faith and Friendship Center. A pizza supper with root beer floats was shared by members and their families. Roll call was answered by, “What is your favorite food?” Community leader, Gina Schumann, handed out ribbons from the state fair, and provided information on countywide officer training, the countywide achievement celebration and record book judging. The club received a purple seal for its accomplishments over the past year and the requirements for a purple seal were reviewed. The annual wiener roast and hayride was Oct. 16 at the Lemings home. Club officer training will be held 30 minutes prior to the November meeting. The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Stull UMC.

Kanwaka FCE will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Ann Haley, 1745 E. 945 Road. The lesson, “First Aid At Home,” will be given by Margaret Fuston.

Douglas County FCE and Kansas State Research and Extension Family and Consumer Sciences announce their November program “Oh, The Stories We Can Tell,” presented by Pattie Johnston, Lawrence Public Library. The event will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Dreher Building at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper. For more information, call 843-7058.

The India FCE will meet at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at the home of Beulah Anderson, 2400 Anderson Road. Co-hostess will be Genny Hunsinger. The lesson, “First Aid At Home,” will be presented by Regina Shaver. Roll call will be answered by favorite Thanksgiving trip. Bring Teddy Bear contributions for Sheriff.
