Wichita ? Prairie Wind Transmission is planning a series of meetings with landowners over the routing of a high-capacity transmission line from Wichita to Medicine Lodge to the Oklahoma border.

Prairie Wind is a joint venture of Westar Energy and Electric Transmission America.

The five open houses begin Nov. 8 in Medicine Lodge.

More meetings are scheduled in Nov. 9 in Kiowa, Nov. 10 in Garden Plain, Nov. 15 in Anthony and Nov. 16 in Kingman.

The company says the project known as the “Y-plan” will promote the growth of wind energy in western Kansas.
