Youth Football Camps: The Lawrence Youth Football Camp, put on by coaches and players from both Lawrence High and Free State, will be June 28-July 1 for players entering grades 3-8. It will run 8:30 a.m. to noon. Free State Youth Football Camp for linemen will be June 22-24, with the camp for quarterbacks, wide receivers and defensive backs July 6-8. LHS Boys Basketball Camp: Dates for the 2010 Lawrence High boys basketball summer camps have been set. An offensive-skills camp for youths entering grades 5-9 will be held June 1-3, and basketball camps for grades 3-5 and 6-8 will be held July 6-9. High school summer basketball workouts will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from June 7-July 14 and are open to boys entering grades 9-12. Seabury Basketball Skills Camps: Ashley Battles, Seabury head coach and KC Pump n Run player development coach, and Caleb Holmes, Seabury assistant and Pump n Run U16 head coach, will hold junior high camp on Monday and Wednesday evenings at Seabury from 5-6:45 p.m. and a high school camp from 7-9 p.m. from Monday through June 23. Seabury Strength Training: Becky Bridson, Seabury girls basketball coach and strength trainer, is offering summer strength training at Seabury on Mondays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The workouts will focus on muscular power, muscular endurance, flexibility, balance, speed, agility, core strength and cardiovascular conditioning. Under The Lights Tennis: The Family Night Taste of Tennis event will be June 2 at Haskell. This event is for anyone who wants to participate. Adults are encouraged to participate with their children.

Youth Football Workouts: Football GridIron workouts for youths interested in playing Youth Football (either current or new players) will be each Wednesday from June 2 through July 28 (12:45 to 1:15.). This is for youths entering second through sixth grades this fall. The workouts involve football conditioning and fundamental development drills. The workouts will be held on the hill behind Sunflower Grade School. There also will be several Saturday workouts during the summer. All camps are voluntary and are designed to attend when you want. LHS Tennis Workouts: Lawrence High boys tennis summer workouts will begin June 1. The workouts are for any player who will be eligible to play for LHS during the school year of 2011, which includes all ninth- through 12th-graders. Derby Hole-In-One: Charles Derby used a 9-iron to fire a hole-in-one on the 154-yard No. 11 hole at Lawrence Country Club. Terry Spriggs, Gary Allen and Josh Williams witnessed the shot.

Immel Hole-In-One: Local attorney John Immel recorded a hole-in-one at Port Royal Country Club in Hilton Head, S.C., on May 13. The shot, which was hit with a 5-iron, took place on the 160-yard 15th hole. The shot was witnessed by Ron Oelschlager, Harley Catlin and Peter Bieri.
