U.S. Highway 56 east of Baldwin City reopens

U.S. Highway 56 east of Baldwin City has reopened after being temporarily shut down Friday morning to allow a semitrailer hauling a crane to back onto the highway.

The truck became stranded Thursday night on a driveway.

Thursday night, the truck, owned by Valley Transportation Services, Grand Meadows, Minn., was headed west on U.S. 56 when it turned onto a private driveway about a mile east of Baldwin City. Once the truck had pulled onto the driveway, it couldn’t get out.
