LHS soccer falls in OT

? Lawrence High’s soccer team fell to Washburn Rural, 2-1, in overtime in a first-round regional game on Tuesday. Regan Keller opened the scoring for the Lions, who finished 4-12.

“She showed a lot of composure, got knocked around a couple times, but was able to keep possession to get us the go-ahead goal,” coach Matt Anderson said.

Washburn Rural has ended the Lions’ season five years in a row.

“We lost four of the games by one goal,” Anderson said. “Unfortunately we’ve been here before. They know what we expect and we did. We played some of our best soccer at the end of the season.”
