Free State softball can’t beat perfection

? Free State’s softball team fell to Olathe Northwest, 8-0, in a first-round Class 6A regional game on Tuesday.

Olathe NW pitcher Jacinda Ramos pitched a perfect game. She struck out eight and improved to 11-1.

Free State finished the season 5-16.

“You’ve got to give credit to their pitcher. She had all her pitches working. She may be the player of the year in the Sunflower League,” Free State coach Lee Ice said. “The difference between 5-15 and 10-10 was six games we lost by two runs or less. Four of the games we had leads with six outs to go. That’s how close we were all year.”
