KU could delay commencement, in case of rain

With a possibility of rain in the forecast for Sunday, participants in Kansas University’s commencement should check for potential weather delays.

If delays are needed, announcements will be posted at alert.ku.edu, and at several media outlets, including LJWorld.com.

Students who have signed up to receive alert notifications on their cell phones will receive text messages if the 2:30 p.m. commencement ceremony is postponed.

If weather begins to clear in the early afternoon, the first attempt to hold a postponed ceremony will be at 4:30 p.m., and graduates should assemble on Memorial Drive at 4 p.m.

If the weather has not cleared for a 4:30 p.m. ceremony, a second attempt would be made at 6:30 p.m., and graduates should assemble at 6 p.m.

The final attempt to hold the ceremony will occur at 9 a.m. Monday. Graduates should assemble at 8:30 a.m. If the ceremony cannot take place on Monday, it will be canceled.
