3 semitrailers flip in Kansas storms

? Cleanup has gotten under way in eastern and central Kansas, after heavy storms packing lightning, high winds and possible tornadoes hit the area on Wednesday evening.

Lightning was believed to have ignited fuel barrels in southwest Johnson County on Wednesday evening as the storms hit the Kansas City metro area. No injuries were reported.

Three tractor-trailers flipped over on the Kansas Turnpike during the storms Wednesday, prompting authorities to close the interstate west of El Dorado.

The National Weather Service said a trained spotter saw a tornado in that area, near Towanda.

Another tornado was reported about 3:50 p.m. six miles east of Inman in McPherson County. And a third was reported a half-hour later south of the Reno County town of Haven. No injuries or major damage were reported from those tornadoes.

In eastern Kansas, residents were dealing with uprooted trees and other damage.
