Wichita ? A June trial date has been set for a 52-year-old man accused of striking two pedestrians and killing one of them last month in Wichita.

Fifty-two-year-old Kevin Lamont Williams Sr. is charged with involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence of alcohol and aggravated battery.

The April 3 accident killed 25-year-old Robert Ryder of Wichita and left his 39-year-old cousin critically injured.

The Wichita Eagle reported that he waived his preliminary hearing this past week. His jury trial is scheduled to start June 28.

Police have said Williams and another man apparently were racing when the pedestrians were struck.

A short time later, Williams returned to the crash site and said he thought he had hit something.

A second arrest in the case has not been made.
