Hearing for ex-Kline aide to resemble trial

? An ethics hearing for a former Kansas deputy attorney general will resemble a court trial.

Eric Rucker worked under former Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline and faces a complaint arising from investigations of abortion providers. Rucker has denied claims that he made false statements to officials.

His hearing before a panel of the state’s attorney discipline board is set for Thursday and may last less than a day.

Three lawyers will listen to testimony from witnesses and decide whether a violation occurred.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reported that if they find wrongdoing, the three recommend sanctions.

After that, the case would go to the Kansas Supreme Court.

Kline also will face an ethics hearing in November stemming from the abortion investigation.
