The Lone Star 4-H Club met April 12 at the Lone Star Church. Seventeen members attended the meeting. Ellie Ramos was initiated into the club. At Regional Club Days, Aimee Neilsen won a blue ribbon in vocal music, while Chris Berg, Rachel Sanders and Ashley Bergoon won a purple ribbon in square dancing. The annual Swap Meet Fundraiser was April 30-May 1. The next meeting will be at 7:15 p.m. Monday at the church.

The Meadowlark 4-H Club met April 25 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds to make May basket tray favors for Meals on Wheels and Pioneer Ridge. Motions were passed to clean up trash in the community and to have a pizza party at the May meeting to honor the club’s graduating seniors, Jamie Morgison and Shelby Miller. The club also voted to enter both a banner and a decorated round bale in the fair.

Shelby Miller, council representative, reported theme ideas for the fair could be submitted to the extension office and a theme would be decided by the end of May. Song leader, Eva Bradley, led the club in singing “I Don’t Want to Be a Duck.” Kennedy O’Dell led a team building activity where teams made up skits from a bag of props. Talks were given by Chloe O’Dell on the Away with Waste project, Kennedy O’Dell on impromptu speaking and Eva Bradley on entomology. Chloe Burns visited the club as a future member. The next meeting will be at the Pendletons’ farm.

Kanwaka FCE will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Ruth Wyatt, 1516 Acorn, Eudora. The lesson, “Exercise — We Need To Enhance Strength and Agility,” will be given by Lyn Walther.

The 59ers FCE will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the home of Mary Ann Thomas, 872 E. 1264 Road. Members are encouraged to come early to visit. Co-hostess will be Donna Riehm. Helen Starrett will give the lesson on arthritis.
