As part of this year’s Mother’s Day celebration, women from around the world will stand to honor Mother Earth.

Among them will be a group of women in Lawrence. On Sunday, the organization One Hundred Good Women is inviting the community to stand at 1 p.m. next to the flower garden in South Park, 12th and Massachusetts streets.

The group, which isn’t limited to women, will stand in silence for five minutes to promote a better world for future generations. The group will recognize the importance for children around the world to have safe drinking water, clean air, enough food for all to eat, access to basic education, adequate health care and safety from violence.

In 2007, the Standing Women event had thousands of women in 75 countries and on all continents standing together.
