27-year-old Topeka man arrested after displaying gun

A 27-year-old Topeka man was arrested at about 2 a.m. Saturday morning after displaying a gun.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Ted Bordman, the man part of a group that got into an altercation with another group near the parking lot of the Ranch, 2515 W. Sixth St. One group reportedly threw fireworks at the other group. The Topeka man confronted the opposing group and displayed a handgun in a holster at his waist. Bordman said he also allegedly grabbed a woman from the other group and exchanged words with other members.

Bordman said the man did not threaten anyone with the weapon and there were no injuries in the incident. The man has been arrested on three counts of disorderly conduct, battery, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of an illegal substance.
