KU newspaper wins multiple awards

The advertising staff of the University Daily Kansan has won seven awards from the College Newspaper Business and Advertising Managers Inc.

CNBAM, an organization of about 150 college newspapers across the nation, gives out the awards at an annual conference, said Jon Schlitt, sales and marketing adviser for the Kansan.

UDK staffer Joe Garvey won the sales representative of the year award, and Schlitt was honored as the organization’s national adviser of the year. It is the third consecutive year the student newspaper has won the salesperson of the year award.

Schlitt said the awards reflected the hard work of the students, and attributed his award to their efforts.

The newspaper also received recognition in five other areas, including a first place award for the best promotional plan.
