Barbee, Waite lead KU golf team into third

? Nate Barbee and Dan Waite fired rounds of 67 to propel the Kansas University men’s golf team to third place entering the final round at the Desert Shootout at Palm Valley Golf Course.

KU shot a 279 to move up five spots on the leaderboard to third place.

Barbee carded his second-straight under-par round and found himself in third place. Barbee is coming off a tie for second place at the Squire Creek Invitational earlier this week.

Waite improved upon his first-round score by 10 strokes. His round of 67 marked the best round of his Jayhawk career.

Freshman Alex Gutesha shot a 74 to enter the final round tied for 19th. Gutesha is attempting to earn his third top-20 finish of the year.

Freshman Chris Gilbert carded a 1-under 71 to finish the day tied for 37th. Junior Jeff Bell is tied for 76th after shooting a 74.
