Topeka ? A former deputy Kansas attorney general wants to remove a member of the panel hearing an ethics complaint against him.

An attorney for former Deputy Attorney General Eric Rucker points to the panel member’s tie to a firm that provided an answering service for slain abortion provider Dr. George Tiller. The panel member has been listed as the firm’s registered agent.

The professional ethics complaint against Rucker stems from investigations of Tiller and a Planned Parenthood clinic in from 2003 to 2008 by the attorney general’s office and the Johnson County District Attorney’s office.

Rucker is accused of lying to the Kansas Supreme Court in arguments in 2005 in an abortion case. He denies it.

Rucker’s hearing is April 27 and 28.
