Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department is offering a free orientation class about operating a child care.

The class will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, in the first floor meeting room at the Community Health Facility, 200 Maine.

It will provide information regarding registration and licensing of day care homes. Kansas law requires that homes be registered or licensed when child care is provided away from the child’s own home for more than 20 hours total per week for one or two children, or for three or more children.

Registration or licensing is not required when a family member provides care for a relative.
