Kansas National Guard troops dispatched to South Korea for training

? About 145 National Guard troops from the 35th Infantry Division in Leavenworth will deploy to South Korea this week for annual training.

Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting, the adjutant general, said the soldiers will be taking part in joint training with Korean troops. The 35th Infantry Division includes Kansas National Guard soldiers as well as Guard members from Missouri, Illinois and Nebraska.

Most of the soldiers will deploy Wednesday until March 20 to South Korea’s 1st Army Headquarters in Wonju. The exercise will focus on strategic, operational and tactical aspects of general military operations in the Korean theater of operations.
