The Community Blood Center, which provides blood supplies to 70 hospitals in the region, reports a critical need for blood donations, as it currently has less than a two-day supply of blood.

Here are three drives in the area where donors can help agencies bump up their blood supply:

• Noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, First Christian Church, 1000 Ky.

• 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Bishop Seabury Academy, 4120 Clinton Parkway.

Both of those drives are sponsored by the Red Cross. Appointments can be made by calling 843-3550, but walk-ins are also welcome.

• 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. March 15 at Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt., sponsored by Community Blood Center. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments can be made at www.savealifenow.org.
