Cole Aldrich taken by New Orleans Hornets with the 11th pick

ESPN's Chad Ford reports Aldrich will be traded to Oklahoma City

Kansas center Cole Aldrich talks with media members in the Jayhawks' locker room at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City, Wednesday, March 17, 2010.

Kansas center Cole Aldrich was taken by the New Orleans Hornets with the 11th pick in Thursday’s 2010 NBA Draft. Shortly after Aldrich was selected, ESPN’s Chad Ford reported on his Twitter account that Aldrich’s rights had been traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

At that spot in the draft, Aldrich is scheduled to make $1.77 million next year.

“I am not going to try to go in and do spectacular things. I’m going to stick with the things I’m good at,” Aldrich said after getting selected. “I’m very good at shot blocking, defending and rebounding and I think that’s how I’m going to make my presence on the court early is by doing those things. And I’m definitely working hard on my offensive game, too.”

Aldrich, a consensus second-team All-America selection last season, averaged 11.3 points and 9.8 rebounds in 36 games for the Jayhawks last year.
