Yoga, tai chi sessions to be offered at Clinton Lake on summer solstice

Douglas County residents can welcome summer by taking in the beauty of Kansas while participating in a yoga or tai chi class.

The Kansas Land Trust, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and preserving land, is hosting two “easement experiences” Monday morning on land overlooking Clinton Lake.

The 49-acre property at 435 N. 1500 Road was recently donated to KLT by Dr. Joseph Hollowell Jr, 77, Lawrence, who died June 12. The event will be in his memory.

The 90-minute yoga session begins at 8 a.m. and will be led by Lawrence instructor Alice Steuerwald. It costs $15, and $10 for KLT members.

The hourlong tai chi class begins at 10 a.m. and the instructor is David Hann, of Lawrence. It costs $10, and $5 for KLT members.

The sessions are open to anyone, no registration required. Signs at the intersection of U.S. Highway 40 and County Road 442, Stull Road, will direct participants to the site.
