KUsports.com honored as top website in its category

KUsports.com, the Lawrence Journal-World’s website dedicated to comprehensive coverage of the Kansas Jayhawks, was honored with an EPpy Award Thursday as the top website in its category.

KUsports.com was honored as the best sports website with fewer than 1 million unique monthly visitors. Other finalists in the category included Home Team from the St. Petersburg Times, STLHighSchoolSports.com from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and UNLV Rebels from the Las Vegas Sun.

Other winners of EPpy Awards included Sports Illustrated, National Public Radio, USA Today and CNN.

Other World Company websites — KTKA.com and lawrence.com — were finalists in their respective categories but did not take home top honors.

In addition, the Las Vegas Sun, which runs its website using Mediaphormedia’s Ellington CMS, was also honored with several awards. KUsports.com, KTKA.com and lawrence.com also all run on Ellington. Mediaphormedia is the interactive software division of The World Company.

This is the fourth EPpy Award for KUsports.com, though its first since 2007.
