Lawrence’s ‘World’s Largest Community Workout’ postponed today due to wet fields
The “World’s Largest Community Workout” has been postponed today because Shenk Fields is soaked.
Marilyn Hull, an event organizer, said Kansas University Recreation Services determined that the foot traffic the workout would generate would have damaged the fields, even if Lawrence doesn’t receive more rain.
Matt Elwell, 6News meteorologist, said Lawrence Municipal Airport has received 1.71 inches since Friday. He said other Lawrence areas have received more rain.
The workout was first scheduled for June 8, but inclement weather caused organizers to postpone the event for one week.
Another rain date has not been scheduled. Hull said future plans will be announced later.
