Two Buffalo players follow Gill to KU

Kansas head coach Turner Gill gathers with the team during spring practice on Sunday, March 28, 2010.

A pair of University of Buffalo football players appear to have followed their former coach to the Midwest.

KU officials have confirmed that linebackers Darius Willis and Nick Sizemore have enrolled at Kansas University and appear poised to join Turner Gill’s KU football program this summer.

Jeffrey Reinhart, of the Lancaster (Pa.) New Era, reported Wednesday that Sizemore, a 6-foot-1, 218-pound linebacker-turned-fullback, had been released from his scholarship by Buffalo and had enrolled at KU.

Sizemore will be a sophomore at KU and will have three years of eligibility remaining. Because of NCAA transfer rules, he will not be eligible to play in games this fall but will be allowed to practice with the team.

Same goes for Willis, 6-3, 240, who also left Buffalo to follow Gill to Kansas.

Willis, a sophomore-to-be who played in just four games in 2009, has indicated on his Facebook page during the past couple of weeks that he is now a Jayhawk.

Willis, originally from Houston, received interest from Colorado, Texas A&M and Iowa State before ultimately signing with Buffalo.
