Ironton, Mo. ? Authorities in eastern Missouri are investigating two fatal shootings in the town of Ironton, including one that involved a police officer.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Saturday that 63-year-old Carl Jones of rural Iron County was shot to death Friday night in Ironton.

Ironton police said an officer later shot and killed Thomas Hennessey Jr., 54, of Dedham, Maine. Police said Hennessey was a suspect in Jones’ death and was shot by the officer on Ironton’s main street.

The officer involved in the shooting is on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
