Two Democrats enter race for Kansas’ 2nd U.S. House district

? Two more Democrats have entered the race for the Kansas 2nd Congressional District seat, now held by Republican Lynn Jenkins.

Cheryl Hudspeth, of Girard, and Sean Tevis (TEH’-vihs), of Olathe, filed Thursday for the Aug. 3 party primary. Thomas Koch, of Leavenworth, is also in the Democratic race.

Jenkins faces a Republican primary challenge from state Sen. Dennis Pyle, of Hiawatha.

Hudspeth worked in banking and economic development but has been caring for her husband following an auto accident. Tevis builds Web sites, and Koch is a janitor and former bar owner.

Tevis lives outside the 2nd District but is only required by law to be a Kansas resident to run for the seat. Tevis said he’s planning to move into the district.
