Kansas University senior long jumper Eric Fattig and senior middle-distance runner Lauren Bonds were named CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first team honorees on Thursday. The distinction is given to those who excel in the classroom and in their respective athletic events.

Fattig, who has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade-point average at KU, and Bonds, who was named the Robert Frederick Female Scholar Athlete of the Year Award at the Jayhawk Senior and Scholar Athlete Banquet, will be participating in the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Fattig will compete in the long jump and Bonds will run the 1,500.
