Colorado man sentenced for Kansas kidnapping

? A Colorado man has been sentenced to nearly 11 years in prison for holding a suburban Topeka couple hostage while on the run from criminal charges in his home state.

Twenty-four-year-old Jesse Dimmick was convicted in May of kidnapping, fleeing from law enforcement and stealing a motor vehicle.

He apologized Wednesday to Jared and Lindsay Rowley in Shawnee County District Court. Dimmick burst into the couple’s Dover home last Sept. 12 after crashing a stolen van in their yard during a chase that began in Geary County.

The couple escaped after Dimmick fell asleep. Officers then stormed the house.

Dimmick is from the Denver suburb of Aurora. He remains wanted in Colorado in connection with a man’s beating death at an Aurora motel.
