Hutchinson ? A 23-year-old Hutchinson man has been sentenced to nearly 12 years in prison for attacking a police officer and other crimes.

Trae Harris was sentenced Friday in Reno County District Court. He pleaded no contest in April to 18 counts, which were consolidated from four criminal cases filed against him over the past two years.

The most serious charge was aggravated battery against a law enforcement officer stemming from a Dec. 19, 2008, incident when a Hutchinson police officer tried to serve Harris with a municipal court warrant.

The Hutchinson News reports that Harris reportedly drove into the officer’s unmarked car, then tried to run the officer over before fleeing.
