Bond set for man accused in wife’s death

? A judge has set bond at $2.5 million for a central Kansas man accused of killing his wife.

Thirty-nine-year-old Michael Andrew Paulson made his first appearance Friday in Saline County District Court via video hookup from the county jail.

The Salina Journal reports that Paulson told Judge Daniel Hebert he’ll need about one week to arrange for a lawyer.

Paulson is charged with first-degree murder in Tuesday’s fatal stabbing of his wife, Valerie Paulson, at their home in Assaria. He’s also charged with attempted first-degree murder in the stabbing of Jessie Putman, his wife’s sister-in-law.

Putman is recovering from her wounds.

Paulson’s next hearing is scheduled for July 16.
