Highway 40 re-opened after injury accident southwest of Lecompton

A Lawrence Douglas County Fire and Medical crew looks over a truck involved in a one-vehicle rollover accident at around 4:30 p.m. Friday west of Lawrence on U.S. Highway 40. An accident victim was sent to an area hospital by LifeStar helicopter.

A Lecompton man suffered serious injuries Friday afternoon in a one-vehicle accident southwest of Lecompton.

David Robles, 51, was driving eastbound on U.S. Highway 40 in a silver, newer model Chevrolet pickup truck when he lost control of the vehicle about 4:15 p.m. near the intersection of East 500 Road and U.S. 40. The highway was briefly closed and traffic detoured onto Stull Road.

Robles was transported by helicopter ambulance to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka. The hospital would not release information about Robles’ condition Friday night.

Emergency crews from Lecompton, Kanwaka Township and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical responded to the accident.
