Manhattan ? The U.S. Small Business Administration has opened an outreach center in Manhattan to help recent flood victims process federal disaster loans.

The SBA declared disaster zones in Clay, Geary, Marshall, Pottawatomie, Riley, Wabaunsee and Washington counties after heavy rain and flash floods hit northeast Kansas on June 16.

Disaster loans of up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged real estate. Residents can also get loans up to $40,000 to replace personal property.

Businesses and non-profit organizations can borrow up to $2 million to replace damaged real estate, equipment and other assets. Interest rates range from about 2.75 percent to 4 percent.

The Disaster Loan Outreach Center in Manhattan opened Friday and will be open until July 22.
