Former KU provost to retire Dec. 31

A former Kansas University provost intends to retire from the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities, the organization has announced.

David Shulenburger is the organization’s vice president for academic affairs. He has been a member of the APLU’s leadership team since leaving KU in 2006.

He will retire effective Dec. 31. He plans to stay in the Washington, D.C., area and remain active in higher education policy.

The APLU is a nonprofit association of universities, colleges, land-grant institutions and state university systems, formerly known as the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges.

Shulenburger served for more than 13 years as KU’s provost and executive vice chancellor.
