Cactus crush BV West, 11-1

July 2, 2010

— The Lawrence Cactus baseball team routed Blue Valley West, 11-1, on Thursday in the Glen Winget Memorial Tournament.

Taylor Gentry earned the victory and allowed two hits and one run in the five-inning, run-rule shortened game.

The Cactus drew nine walks, to go along with nine hits. Tanner Kilmer went 2-for-2 with three RBIs, while Adam Petz was 1-for-1 with two RBIs. All nine Cactus hitters reached base and eight of the nine hitters scored a run.

“For me, any time you can score a run for every hit, your offense is running pretty good,” Cactus coach Wilson Kilmer said. “And we did a little better than that today.”

The Cactus (12-3) will return to action at 4 p.m. today vs. Rogers County (Okla.).
