Accident on U.S. Highway 40 blocks traffic west of Lawrence
Traffic was blocked in both directions on U.S. Highway 40 Friday evening after a vehicle accident west of Lawrence.
A sports utility vehicle was involved in a minor injury accident near Highway 40 and East 400 Road, located near Clock House, a business at 417 U.S. 40. The accident was reported about 5:30 p.m. Friday.
The SUV hit a utility pole, knocked down a power line, then landed in a ditch. Traffic in the area was diverted because the power line was still live.
Traffic is blocked on U.S. 40 between East 400 and East 550 roads.
