Dental clinic loosens income guidelines

Douglas County Dental Clinic has changed its income guidelines to allow more people without dental insurance to use its services.

The clinic, 316 Maine, now accepts people who are at 250 percent of 2008 poverty levels. It had been 200 percent of 2009 levels.

That means a single person with a yearly net income of $26,000 — it was $22,000 last year — now qualifies for services. A family of four can bring in $53,000 and qualify for services. The threshold previously was $44,000.

To access the clinic’s services, people also:

• Must live in Douglas County.

• Have no dental insurance.
